All We like Sheep......Hopefully

“If thine eye be single thy whole body shall be full of light.”

Serving the Lord is infinitely simpler than serving the devil.  Sin is soooo complicated; furthermore, the confusion that is caused by your sinning only further complicates things.  What I have been thinking on this week is the simplicity of the gospel…….surprise! J

Those that know me well know I harp on this a lot, but I really believe that the simplicity of the gospel is what folks are look for.  I really believe that complacence and complexity are a couple of the devils greatest tools to tear down a child of God.  At the end of the day God simply calls us to keep our focus on him; however for most of us, at the end of the day, we are fortunate if we can just keep our eyes open; because we get SOOO busy!  In all of this busyness we lose track of what is most important.  Satan creeps in and sows seeds of doubt and despair.  We begin to confuse our motion with action, and slip into that old human trait of thinking “hey, everyone relax, I got this.”  There is some dangerous thinking if I ever saw it.  I understand this road so well because I have walked it.  Constant motion without profit, being “cumber about with many things,” yet forgetting the one thing that is needful.  That is Jesus Christ.  Forgetting to sit down with him and learn, and get feed.  Simply take the time to sit down and spend time with the Father.  Does he not deserve your time? Does he not deserve mine?

Please stop and consider the Biblical analogy of sheep and their shepherd.  The shepherd’s job description is to tend to the sheep: he guides them to water; he leads them to good pasture to feed. He protects them and keeps them together.  He does everything necessary to keep them healthy and happy; ALL the sheep have to do is…..look toward the shepherd.  Basically all that goes through their mind is, “where is the shepherd?” “Where is the shepherd?” “Where is the shepherd?”  If they can answer this question, then the question of food, raiment, safety, fellowship, all things that pertain to life is already answered; because the shepherd has it under control.  The shepherd has got this……..listen folks, Jesus can take care of your problems……just let him do it.  In this fact lies the amazing truth of the “simplicity of the gospel”.  When before you were in sin and you had to do this, and had to do that.  Every minute, of every hour, there was a worry or a concern; a lie that you had to tell, or a mess that had to be cleaned up.  Now, when you are a child of God, there is only one focus; keeping your eye single…..that is to say…..only on the shepherd. For truly he is the good shepherd.  I would that all men understand that by trusting in the shepherd and his ability, there is liberty from the confusion and complication of sin.  There is wonderful clarity of mind and peace in your heart, knowing without a shadow of a doubt who “holds your hand and holds tomorrow.”
Please ask yourself…..Have I labored with my sins and the complication they bring long enough?  I ask you, are you ready for Jesus to be the shepherd of you’re: soul, mind, body, heart and life?  To lead you in “paths of righteousness for his names sake”?  If so, then I beg you, find a quiet place, where you can get real with God.  Get on your knees and pray a prayer of repentance.  Tell God your sorry for everything you ever did against his name, and you vow to never do it again; and when you receive a witness that your sins are all gone.  Go back and pray again, tell God that you desire the blessing of the Holy Ghost, the indwelling of his son Jesus in your heart.  You want him to take control to be the captain of your life and the shepherd of your soul.  He will do it.
“Ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be open unto you.”
