Guest Week: Jonathan Williams: What Is Sin?

 What is Sin?

 

Sin is defined as a transgression against divine law. Sin is the condition that we are born with which must shed to inherit the Kingdom of God. Satan (the devil) has dominion over us until we give ourselves over to Jesus Christ, the son of God.

 

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

 

Once we cleanse ourselves through prayer to wash away our sins, then we pray for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This spirit will cause us to conform as Sanctified people and live without sin. For God has promised that if we obey his laws set forth in the Bible, we shall enter His Kingdom.

 

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

 

Jesus shed his own blood on a cross so that you and I might be able to gain a great inheritance! He made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be saved from the sin that sits in us from birth. Once we have shed that sinful nature we can live at peace and without sin.

 

Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

 

We must strive to live righteously because so much is at stake. Our very eternity is what we are working toward. Our Father in Heaven has promised us that if we live pure and Holy we will be counted as His children!
