First Things First.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” John 13:16-17

Raise your hand if you have ever meet someone who has all their heart’s desire; even still they are unhappy.  Conversely, raise your hand if you have ever met someone who had not a penny or possession to their name, but is as happy as a hound dog in a hen house.  That is because real happiness can only be found in the field of true contentment; and true contentment is not circumstantial; but is solely based on the circumstance of your soul.  In short: “How is it with you and the Lord?”  If you think I am lying….well…..look around you.  What I been thinking on this week is the pecking order that produces real happiness and true contentment. (I am not going to bother defining the two, because you know it when you have it, and you know it when you don’t)

If you do not have true peace and contentment in your life it is because you have usurped the pecking order.  God created man and ordained a “pecking order” that you must follow to be truly happy.  Very simply if you put God first and the commandments found in the pages of his Holy Word then you will be happy and blessed.  Will you have problems? Yes.  Will you have trails? Certainly, but the peace and contentment found deep down inside your soul will not flee and will not change.  In fact, you find that your happiness and contentment is not circumstantial, because your circumstance of your sole is always the same.  That circumstance is simply, God First.  When you keep God first everything else falls into place; when you make his will and wish your first and foremost, there is no circumstance that can affect the inner peace that you feel inside.  For “godliness with contentment is great gain” but when you pervert the order and try to put yourself first, that is when you begin to find trouble, heartache and discontent; because it is righteousness and godliness a sinful soul thirsts after.  Just as the lost sailor becomes overcome with dehydration and begins to drink from the ocean, only to find that his thirst is not quenched, only made worse.  So a man that drinks and drinks the sinful, saltwater of the world, only to find that the agony of the dehydration is still there.  But when you find that cool and gentle spring; that well of living water, and drink of that cup! Which is Christ! Oh, you will never thirst again.  Contentment, peace, happiness, and JOY are ever present and reigning within.  Because you have set your priorities in order and you have right captain manning your vessel.
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17
