Repentance: to repent,
to feel sorrow, penitence, and remorse for sinful acts committed against God; causing
one to choose to convert. Causing one to
change and turn from sin to serve God.
The very act of repentance is an act of
faith. By faith you recognize that God
is holy, Christ is holy, and you are a sinner standing in judgment of His just
wrath. That you have broken his commandments
and must repent, so that you can be saved.
Repentance is the first step you take toward God, and the first step you
take away from sin.
“The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.”-2 Peter 3:9
“I came not to call the righteous,
but sinners to repentance.”-Luke 5:32
How can this be? How can the guilty go free? Because of Jesus. Jesus paid the debt on the cross for you and for
me. He took your punishment; he took
your place! Now, all he asked in return
is your recognition and complete rejection of your old sinful life. Converting from a life of sin, to live a life
for Jesus. This is repentance.
“Repent ye therefore, and be
converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing
shall come from the presence of the Lord.”-Acts 3:19
“After that John was put in prison,
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And
saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye,
and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:14-15
Will you repent today? Will
you trust in Jesus’s sacrifice, leaving behind your sin? Or will he have died for you in vain?
